A concert exploring some some aspects of recent guitar music.<\/p>\n
From the best-known minimalism of Steve Reich’sElectric Counterpoint <\/i>to the surprisingly pyrotechnic Les Voix des Cordes <\/i>of the recently deceased Marco Di Bari.<\/p>\n
And then 2 translations<\/i> (more accurate term than transcriptions<\/i>) by Arturo Tallini from John Cage: the guitar here evokes dreaming and perhaps nostalgia for a world gone(Dream<\/i>); and, in the second piece, the instrument becomes a small percussion orchestra(A Room).<\/i><\/p>\n
The concert ends with Percussion Study no. 3 <\/i>a piece that seems to evoke fast-paced New York life, with hundreds of instrumental micro gestures that follow one another without interruption in heated virtuosity.<\/p>\n
And at the center of the concert? The best known guitar, that of H. Villa-Lobos, indicating that the expressive and dreamy soul of the instrument, will always coexist with other possible instrumental identities. <\/p>\n
