● INTRODUCTION
Workshop on modern violin making
The modern lutherie workshop is the result of MARTHA’s collaboration with Liuteria Corona, an established business in Palermo founded and run by luthier Anna Corona, specialising in the production of handcrafted electric guitars. The workshop aims to deepen and get to know the parameters of one’s instrument in order to obtain a good set-up independently, starting from the classical knowledge of traditional violin making up to the most modern innovations, such as the use of CNC. The aim is to provide in-depth knowledge of one’s instrument and its possibilities, to achieve a more complete awareness both in the studio and during performance. MARTHA aims to disseminate the culture of the instrument and lutherie, from the classical tradition to its development in the contemporary age, in parallel with the evolution of the repertoire and musical genres in which the guitar plays a leading role today. Since 2022, Liuteria Corona has been the technical sponsor of the annual Guitar Master’s Course in Music Performance and Interpretation.

ANNA CORONA

“Ho sempre guardato gli strumenti come oggetti magici: l’unione tra estetica e capacità di generare suono.”

Anna Corona has made her passion for music the centre of her career. First through studies: a degree in Music Disciplines and then a specialisation in Musicology. Then through violin making: the study of the tradition of violin making down to its most extreme elements, experimentation in materials and electronics. In business for 10 years, he opened his workshop in Palermo in 2019 where he makes instruments entirely by hand.
