“Suspended Quintet”

FIRST PERFORMANCE IN PALERMO

The program explores the eras and sounds of the string and piano quintet through the baroque and contemporary.

From the baroque Quintet for piano and strings Op. 56 No. 4 in E-flat major by Luigi Boccherini, performed on the small cello and the 1830Wetzels table fortepiano (which will be reopened after the latest restoration), one is catapulted into the contemporary Quintetto Sospeso by Giovanni Sollima , which, on the occasion of its recording on disc at the MARTHA recording studio, is being performed for the first time in concert in Palermo. The program will close with the latest work by young composer Carlotta Maestrini.

concert and wine

At the end of the performance, a wine tasting offered by top Sicilian wineries will be offered to the audience.

NUNZIO APRILE
He studied at the “U.Giordano” Music Conservatory in Foggia and graduated from the “S.Cecilia” Music Conservatory in Rome. He immediately dedicated himself to the study of chamber music, deepening his knowledge of repertoire from Duo to Quintet and the piano repertoire for four hands and two pianos, collaborating with renowned artists including Antonio Anselmi and Leslie Howard. He has participated as a pianist and chamber musician in various national and international competitions, placing in the top positions. He has served as an accompanist in opera competitions and collaborated in master classes held by teachers such as Enrico Bronzi, M. Sirbu, and Boris Belkin. He owes his musical training especially to the study of ancient treatises by L. Mozart, Quantz, C.Ph.E. Bach, D.G.Turk, M. Clementi, C. Czerny, and Hummel, to name a few, and consequently to the study of repertoire on historical pianos. Special merit goes to Ugo Casiglia, builder and restorer of ancient keyboard instruments, through whom he was able to know and deepen his knowledge of these instruments and thus acquire a copy of a J.Brodmann Wien fortepiano from 1805-10 and a romantic piano Boisselot & Fils Marseille from 1854. He is a Piano professor at the “U.Giordano” Music Conservatory in Foggia, detached section of Rodi Garganico.
