OPENING OF THE 2025/26 ART SEASON

non-subscription concert

A concert exploring some some aspects of recent guitar music.

From the best-known minimalism of Steve Reich’sElectric Counterpoint to the surprisingly pyrotechnic Les Voix des Cordes of the recently deceased Marco Di Bari.

And then 2 translations (more accurate term than transcriptions) by Arturo Tallini from John Cage: the guitar here evokes dreaming and perhaps nostalgia for a world gone(Dream); and, in the second piece, the instrument becomes a small percussion orchestra(A Room).

The concert ends with Percussion Study no. 3 a piece that seems to evoke fast-paced New York life, with hundreds of instrumental micro gestures that follow one another without interruption in heated virtuosity.

And at the center of the concert? The best known guitar, that of H. Villa-Lobos, indicating that the expressive and dreamy soul of the instrument, will always coexist with other possible instrumental identities.

concert and wine

At the end of the performance, a wine tasting offered by top Sicilian wineries will be offered to the audience.
