TORINO STRING ENSEMBLE

The TORINO STRING ENSEMBLE is a new chamber ensemble, an example of absolute excellence in the Italian and international music scene. The Torino String Ensemble aims to introduce the chamber string repertoire in all its enormous possibilities and combinations. It was born from the idea of six musicians who have been collaborating together for many years in the cultural milieu of Turin, a city that unites them musically and humanly and has a great tradition in the training of string instrumentalists. Their desire is to combine the performance of masterpieces of the past with contemporary music and unpublished pieces, thus giving a way to expand the repertoire and promote the creation of new music.

A journey between two hidden gems of the chamber music repertoire.

This evening’s program takes us on a rediscovery of two wonderful and unjustly little-performed works: the String Sextet in E-flat Major, Op. 44 by Niels Gade and the String Quintet in B minor by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Two very different composers in terms of training and style, but they share an extraordinary ability to write for string instruments and a lyricism that is mixed with virtuosic traits and energy.

These two works, so different yet somehow complementary, offer us an evening of discovery and beauty. It is a precious opportunity to listen to two original and engaging voices, often left overshadowed by the great repertoire, but capable of delivering deep emotions and unforgettable sound images.

Each event, will be followed by a convivial moment together with the artists. At the end of the performance, in fact, a tasting offered by the best Sicilian wineries will be proposed to the public.
