ITALIA IBERICA is a musical journey that explores the link between the Spanish tradition and its influence on some Italian composers.

The program opens with Joaquín Turina’s Sonata Op. 61, inspired by the atmosphere of Seville and the myth of Love who, disguised as a ghost, roams the city at night, frightening all those who are not in love. Domenico Scarlatti follows, with two sonatas that reflect his dual soul: one close to the Italian style, the other steeped in Iberian rhythms.

Vicente Asencio evokes the Valencian folk tradition with the refined Collectici Intim, while Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco translates the dreamlike visions of Francisco Goya’s Capricci into music.

The recital closes with S’accabadòra by Francesco Morittu, inspired by the legendary Sardinian figure and the deep ties between Sardinia and Spain.
