GUITAR
ADVANCED ANNUAL FLUTE COURSE
● INTRODUCTION
PALERMO (SICILY), OCTOBER 2024 TO JULY 2025
The annual guitar course is the first advanced training program in Sicily with a specific focus on professional preparation for concert repertoire and chamber music.
One of the most important goals of this annual course is to always remain attuned to reality, the professional world, and career opportunities. For this reason, we haven’t stopped at simply scheduling instrument lessons, but have enriched the annual course with workshops and activities in the web and digital realm, which are indispensable in the career of a concert performer today. You will find professors from the international music scene, important opportunities for interaction, professional and technological spaces, and the support of the MARTHA “family.”
Classes are held at our headquarters, in Palermo, equipped with pianos, community areas, a green court and the energy you need to find perfect focus, meet new colleagues and engage in great professional growth.
CHAMBER MUSIC
It is possible to participate in the annual course with a chamber music ensemble
The program is aimed at groups ranging from duos to quintets.
The group will be able to participate in lessons with all the teachers, aiming to prepare a concert program.
The best groups, as indicated by the teachers, will be selected and will have the opportunity to perform in MARTHA’s concert seasons or at other institutions.
The cost of the chamber music course is intended for the entire group.
● TEACHERS
Lorenzo Micheli
Lorenzo Micheli trained with Paola Coppi, Oscar Ghiglia, and Frédéric Zigante in Milan, Lausanne, and Basel, and after winning the first prize in the “M. Pittaluga – Città di Alessandria” and “Guitar Foundation of America” competitions, he embarked on an intense artistic career that, over twenty years, has taken him to 25 European countries, three hundred cities in the United States and Canada, Africa, Asia, and Latin America, performing as a soloist, in chamber ensembles, and with orchestras. As “SoloDuo,” together with Matteo Mela, Lorenzo has performed in concert halls all over the world, from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Schubertsaal in Vienna, from the Sala delle Colonne in Kiev to the Sejong Hall in Seoul. The “Washington Post” has described SoloDuo as “extraordinarily sensitive – nothing less than rapturous.”
Gilbert Impérial
An eclectic and innovative musician, 𝗚𝗶𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 Impérial stands out for his comprehensive approach to the guitar, exploring all its tonal, technical, and stylistic possibilities. He tackles repertoires from all eras and dedicates himself with particular interest to contemporary and chamber music, often alternating between the classical and electric guitar in his performances. During meetings with Impérial, you will have the opportunity to discover and delve into contemporary repertoire for the electric guitar, aimed at classical guitarists, and you can participate in collective technique workshops to deepen various technical aspects related to the interpreted works. With his profound knowledge of the guitar and its possibilities, combined with a spirit of exploration, 𝗚𝗶𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗲́𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 becomes an exceptional Master for the guitarists of tomorrow.
Jérémy JOUVE
Acclaimed by international radio FIP as « the ambassador for classical guitar worldwide », Jérémy Jouve multiplies international tours, recordings, and collaborations with the greatest performers and composers. His studies at the Ecole Normale de Musique and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse (CNSMD) in Paris where he followed the teaching of the great masters Alberto Ponce and Roland Dyens, oriented him towards a committed and poetic approach to music, an incessant search for beautiful sounding, and a deep love and respect for the original compositions. His young prodigy career began with a first concerto with orchestra at the age of 10, a gold medal awarded by the conservatory at 13, a first European tour at 16, and the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) Prize won at the age of 24 in Mexico. From this extraordinary career, Jérémy Jouve keeps a strong mark of sincerity that he transmits today with passion to his students at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Paris and the Pôle Supérieur Paris Boulogne-Billancourt, as well as during the masterclasses he delivers while touring. In 2003, the GFA Prize opened the doors to a five-month North American tour and a first recording with Naxos records. He then released, in 2008 and 2011, with the same label, two albums devoted to the challenging work for solo guitar of Joaquín Rodrigo. Following this, a Melbay Concert Live DVD released in 2009 and a Reference Recordings album, Traveling Sonata, with flutist Viviana Guzman, nominated for the Grammy Awards in 2012, completed this cycle of recordings. The album « Cavalcade », released in 2015, the fruit of Jérémy Jouve’s encounter with French composer Mathias Duplessy, opens the way to a series of collaborations with renowned composers such as Thierry Escaich, Karol Beffa and François Meïmoun, as well as with great chamber musicians such as François Salque, Pierre Fouchenneret, or artists performing world music such as Prabhu Edouard. Jérémy Jouve is also the Artistic Director of a festival he founded in 2019, the International Festival « Guitare en Alpes », in Savoie, of which Cecilia Rodrigo, daughter of the famous composer, is the godmother. While combining chamber music including the guitar and new compositions, the festival is one-of-a-kind bringing together the greatest talents around classical guitar and greatly contributing to the growth of the instrument’s repertoire. Jérémy Jouve is currently devoted to the recording of two new albums, one featuring new chamber music compositions by Mathias Duplessy, released in 2021, and another one with his long-time accomplice and violinist Pierre Fouchenneret. He created en 2022 Thierry Escaich’s very first concerto for guitar and string orchestra, with the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie, and several new works by François Meïmoun in 2023, as a concerto for guitar and percussion with Adélaïde Ferrière and the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie.

● GOALS
CONCERT
REPERTOIRE
Over the year, your purpose will be complete a recital program chosen on the basis of the specialization you want to undertake or recommended by the teacher.
CONCERT
REPERTOIRE
You will learn how to design and master the main pieces required in international competitions.
CONTEMPORARY
REPERTOIRE
You will have the opportunity to discover or deepen the contemporary repertoire for electric guitar, aimed at classical guitarists.
TECHNIQUE
You will address all the challenges related to technique, by exploring the repertoire in depth, studying various aspects such as touch, sound, physicality, breathing and in general the maximum knowledge of your instrument. Collective technique workshops will also be organized for the in-depth study of various technical aspects in relation to the works interpreted.
INTERPRETATION AND ANALYSIS
You will deepen the history, the structure and the different interpretative possibilities of each piece, in order to master each aspect of the performance, starting from the score and arriving to the aware listening of your own sound.
B • C
Integration of movement, sensation, feeling and thought: awarness is the foundational element. Physical and emotional tensions, habits and unconscious motor patterns are major contributors to the musicians’ problems.
During the 8 lessons of the Feldenkrais Method®, you will learn to acquire and develop new and more functional habits, gain body awareness, rediscover a more efficient and effective posture, and find a freer and more adaptable breath. This will allow you to improve and make a better sound quality, managing performance anxieties and achieving greater artistic expression. The Feldenkrais Method® lessons will take place on the same days as the violin lessons.
Teacher:
MARISA GLORIOSO
She graduated from the International Feldenkrais Method® Training and is qualified to teach both group lessons of Awareness Through Movement® and the hands-on technique of Functional Integration® (individual sessions).
Her educational background, first in linguistics and then in music and the arts, led her to develop a passion for everything related to body expression and creativity. She became interested in Rudolf Steiner’s eurhythmics, an artistic movement practice closely connected to language and music, and she attended a three-year course on body expression and verbal and non-verbal communication. She studied opera singing at the Palermo Conservatory of Music, took courses in diction, theater improvisation and acting. In Turin, she perfects her stage art, vocal technique, and acting skills. She attends the Stefano Tempia Academy, specializing in Choral Singing, and works as a chorister for several years. Her interest in everything related to the harmony of body, mind, and spirit leads her to approach holistic disciplines: she graduates and obtains a Master’s degree as a Shiatsu Practitioner, attends a Diapason Therapy Course, and a course on Tibetan Bowls for therapeutic purposes.
